Walk in the footsteps of young colonial-era women by traveling back in time to experience St. Augustine in the 1700s! Sew and wear your period clothing (materials not provided), use wooden spoons to eat authentic open-fire meals and sleep in marquee shelters while sharing the unique experience with your Girl Scout sisters! Learn new skills like broom-, candle- or basket-making, play colonial-era games and teach the public about life in the 1740s. Test your ability to adapt to life in the 18th century as you share what you have learned with hundreds of visitors at the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine. Complete the online application by Jan. 11. At least one online reference form must be completed by an adult not related to the applicant by Jan. 11. An application fee of $15 must be submitted at the time of the application. The participation cost for girls in grades 6-9 is $80, for grades 10-12 is $70. The application fee will be applied to the participation cost if the girl is selected or refunded if the girl is not selected. Remaining balance must be paid by Jan. 19. The participation cost does not cover costs for the period clothing materials. Grades 6-8 – One day auditions will be held on Jan. 12 and will run approximately 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Grades 10-12 – Overnight auditions will be held on Jan.11 at 7 p.m. and last until Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. Accepted docents will receive a letter with information about the February training weekend by mid-January. Training weekend: Feb. 8-9 Training will be held at Argyle Church of Christ, 7310 Collins Road, Jacksonville. Overnight training for all grades begins Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., and ends Saturday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. Event weekend: Mar. 22-24 The entire event weekend is held at the Fountain of Youth, 11 Magnolia Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Participants should arrive at 6 p.m. Friday (girls in Grades 10-12 may arrive as early as 9 a.m.) and depart at 1 p.m. Sunday. Caregivers should be aware of these dates/times. Girls must attend the entire day of auditions and the entire training weekend in order to participate in the event.
