OTEX, Outdoor Training Extravaganza, is an annual weekend with the mission of all participants receiving training in a multitude of specific outdoor skills.  Participants will grow in knowledge, skill and self-confidence to enhance their girls outdoor experiences. 

Learn the basics of recreational canoe paddling including strokes, games, group safety and rescue skills.  Successful completion of this class enables participants to facilitate canoe activities on Gateway properties only.  Session begins Friday evening. 

Note: This course does require physical endurance & flexibility as you will be spending the weekend in and out of a canoe.

Session begins at 7pm Friday evening. 

Requirements: Participants must be at least 16 years old.  Those 18 and older will achieve the first step towards becoming an Gateway instructor.

** Fees include meals and session materials. Please eat dinner before arriving on Friday evening.  Meals served include: Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner & snack.  Sunday: breakfast & sack lunch to go.

** all attendees must be registered for the 2017 Membership Year.  All adults must be approved (background checked) volunteers.  

As part of the Gateway certification process to supervise these activities, Canoeing, Kayaking, and Sailing participants must also help facilitate one the “Aquatics & Archery” programs on the weekends  at Camp Kateri. Gateway Certification applies only to the lakes at Camp Kateri and the pond at North Fork.  Participants are NOT certified to take paddlers on the Black River at North Fork Leadership Center.

Cancellation Policy
Last day to cancel and receive a refund is 8 September. Any cancellations between 9th and 15th, there will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refund after the 16th of September.
